Shaun Griffin – My Life, As It Is
My name is Shaun Griffin, and I was born in 1980 in Rockford, Illinois, where I still call home. I was raised to be a decent person — to be nice, honest, respectful, and caring toward others — and those values have stayed with me through every stage of my life. I believe in being real with people, not hiding behind a mask or pretending to be perfect. My story isn’t polished, but it’s mine, and that’s something I can stand by.
Work Life
Over the years, I’ve worked at Alorica, Walmart, and Servicom — jobs that taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of reliability. At Alorica and Servicom, I worked as a Customer Service Representative, helping people solve problems and keeping things running smoothly. At Walmart, I was a Meat Department Associate, where I learned the value of teamwork and consistency.
I’ve always believed in being a responsible, hard-working person — someone who earns his place, moves up, and makes a decent living wage. Beyond my jobs, I’ve also put my creativity to work by successfully launching three alternative social networks: Haveno, Mynte, and Voico — platforms built to give people a voice outside of mainstream tech spaces. Each project represents my belief in freedom, expression, and community.
Education
I attended Conklin Elementary, West Middle School, and Auburn High School here in Rockford. Learning has always been a lifelong pursuit for me. I’m currently continuing my education through the Alison Empowerment Platform, where I’m studying Mental Health and Computer Science — subjects that reflect both my curiosity about the mind and my interest in technology.
Personality & Interests
If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m creative, curious, helpful, thoughtful, a little naughty, and naturally introverted. I enjoy being kind to people, including others rather than excluding them — because I know what it feels like to be left out. I believe that respect, honesty, and understanding are the foundations of real connection.
In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies — especially horror films and crime dramas — and connecting with new people, especially women. I’m fascinated by human behavior and the different sides of people’s personalities.
Identity & Self-Acceptance
I’m also part of the LGBTQ community — I identify as bigender and bisexual. It took me time to understand that about myself, and even more time to be comfortable saying it out loud. Today, I’m open and accepting of my sexuality, and I believe in being honest about who I am without shame.
I’ve faced my share of personal challenges, too — I live with anxiety and depression, as well as seasonal allergies that can make everyday life more difficult at times. But these things are part of me, not the whole story. I’ve learned that life isn’t about pretending everything is perfect — it’s about being real enough to say, “This is me.”
A Real Person, Not a Perfect One
I’m not totally proud of the person I’ve become — but I’m proud that I’ve learned to tell the truth about myself. I’m still growing, still working to be better, still figuring things out one step at a time.
This is my life as it is — no sugar-coating, no pretending, just Shaun Griffin — an honest, caring, curious person trying to make sense of this world while helping others feel seen and included in it.
